Summit Pickleball Court Barriers & Barn Glare Solutions

Dear Members of the Board,

We are requesting approval for the purchase of multi-use backdrop stand systems, blackout fabrics, and court-separator net sets to improve usability, safety, and flexibility at The Barn and the outdoor pickleball courts.

This proposal addresses current operational issues while maximizing reuse of the equipment across multiple HOA activities.

Current Issues Being Addressed

1. Light and Glare Inside The Barn

Both ends of The Barn have large windows (approximately 20 feet long). During pickleball play, movie nights, presentations, and daytime events, significant glare and light penetration makes it difficult to see the ball, screens, or activities clearly. This impacts safety, comfort, and overall use of the building.

2. Ball Interference at Outdoor Pickleball Courts

At the outdoor courts, balls frequently travel between courts, interrupting games and creating safety concerns. Portable court separators are needed to keep play contained.

Proposed Solution – One System, Multiple Uses

Backdrop Stand Systems

Adjustable backdrop stands with black fabric panels can be used:

Indoors (The Barn):

  • Reduce glare from windows during pickleball play

  • Improve visibility for movie nights and presentations

  • Serve as temporary partitions for:

    • HOA-organized social events

    • Weddings, parties, and private rentals

    • Multi-activity setups in the same space

Outdoors (Pickleball Courts):

  • Used with netting as court separators

  • Reduce ball migration between courts

  • Improve safety and flow of play

The same stands can be redeployed as needed, making this a cost-effective and flexible investment.

Clarification on Separator Requirements

  • Each court separator requires 4 stands

  • Three (3) separators are needed to separate four courts

  • Total stands required for separators: 12 stands

  • The 4 stands used indoors can also be used as part of the separator system

  • This means 8 additional stands are needed beyond the original 4
